History of SuperValu & TidyTowns
With 222 stores throughout Ireland, reaching into every county and almost every community, SuperValu has proudly served the people of Ireland for over 40 years, and today serves
over 2.7 million customers weekly.
Together with our retailer partners, SuperValu is one of the state’s largest private-sector employers, employing over 16,000 colleagues.
SuperValu stores are locally owned, and many are run by families who have been proudly supporting their local communities for generations. SuperValu retailers are uniquely passionate about their communities and they are extremely proud of where they are from.
This is the reason why SuperValu first got involved in the TidyTowns competition back in 1991. SuperValu working closely with the TidyTowns unit at the Department of Rural and Local Development strive to continually build and invigorate the competition, making it Ireland’s leading community initiative.
For over thirty years SuperValu has supported the competition at a grass roots level by investing additional time, money and resources in their local TidyTowns committees.
SuperValu TidyTowns has always been a uniting force which has shaped the face of Ireland’s villages and towns, gathering people from all parts of each community to work together for a common cause.
The dedication, commitment and passion of the thousands of volunteers involved in SuperValu TidyTowns every year is something to be extremely proud of.
